Three day intensive training: «Dumpag – weapons of the body» in Reutlingen
This years three days Dumpag training camp directed by Maginoo Mandala Uli Weidle in the european Pekiti Tirsia Headquarters in Reutlingen, Germany was themed „Creating options, when choices are gone”. The term Dumpag is from the filipino martial arts Kali and stands for self defense by use of the human body, i.e. striking, kicking, grabbing, pushing, leveraging and throwing in the broadest sense. Even so-called „dirty tactics” such as scratching and biting are part of the self-defence system.
According to this years training motto „Creating options, when choices are gone” the training focused on situations in which physical force is already in progress, those situations in which avoiding and negotiating already failed. Topics were fighting and escaping when threatened or attacked from groups, as well as fighting while cornered with the back to the wall or in tight spaces, and street-wise defence and escapes from the ground.
The experienced instructor Mandala Weidle managed excellently, to adjust the training to the skill and needs of each seminar participant and he presented the serious topic such, that everybody was training with fun and great enthusiasm. The three days with a total of 21 hours training time offered sufficient time, to learn new techniques and behaviours, explore them and test them pressured by an resisting partner. At the end of the three days camp everybody attending had collected precious training experience and sore muscles, which will remind them for a while about the training.
The next Dumpag camp is scheduled for May 2010.
