Typhoonic Power of Pekiti Tirsia - cross-steps, spirals, jumps and rotations with Uli Weidle and Arun Michael Trefz

Topic

The Pekiti Tirsia system makes extensive use of spirals and rotational energy. In the Philippines this is sometimes referred to as the typhoonic power of Pekiti Tirsia.

Already in the foundation level of the training Pekiti Tirsia practitioners use cross steps, spirals, jumps and rotations as exercises to improve dynamic balance, hitting coordination, spatial perception and overall fitness. Also decision making power and other mental qualities are effectively developed with these exercises.

Advanced practitioners use these tactics and methods in actual combat as stepping feints, for making efficient use of territory, or as emergency manoeuvres. Especially useful are those methods when fighting multiple opponents.

On this weekend the trainer team Arun Trefz and Uli Weidle will teach exercises to develop and then learn how to use the ‘typhoonic’ power of Pekiti Tirsia.

ULI WEIDLE is ranked TUHON in the Pekiti Tirsia system. In the year 1996 Uli Weidle has been assigned by Grand Tuhon Gaje to represent him and the Pekiti Tirsia system in Europe and to be the Managing Director of the Pekiti-Tirsia Europe organisation.

Uli started the adventures of martial arts as a young child and practised various Martial Arts systems for over 40 years. The last 20 years he's been focusing on Pekiti Tirsia system, whereof the last 15 years he was travelling more then 25 times to Philippines studying the culture and training as a direct personal student of the Pekiti Tirsia heir and supreme grandmaster Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje.
In the year 2011 Grand Tuhon Gaje awarded Uli with the Rank Tuhon in the Pekiti Tirsia system. This is the highest rank ever given outside the Philippines to a Pekiti Tirsia practitioner. Uli is the only Tuhon of Pekiti Tirsia in Europe.

Grand Tuhon Gaje provided opportunity for Tuhon Uli to train with other weapon experts in the Philippines. In his journeys to the Philippines, Tuhon Uli Weidle has been active as a close quarter combat trainer for the prestigious Force Recon unit of the Filipino Marines, the Intelligence Group of the Philippine National Police and the Security Group of the President of the Philippines.

In Europe, Uli Weidle is the Training Consultant for Military Commando and Police SWAT / Task Forces from various countries. He is teaching Self-defence, Fitness & Hilot to civilians of all ages. He is also conducting Leadership Development and Conflict Solutions Training Program for the Upper Managements, Executives & the CEO's of International Companies.

ARUN MICHAEL TREFZ: equally enthusiastic for martial arts and dance Arun found in the work of Pia André New Dance and Stick Fight the possibility to combine both. soft–hard, fast–slow, playful–serious, vulnerable–confident.

He was fascinated to explore the mutual qualities between martial arts and dance, like for example the basic principles of space, time and timing. Thrilled by stick fighting he decided to dig deeper into the Filipino Martial Arts.

After having experienced Ju-Jutsu, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Systema he discovered the Pekiti Tirsia system which amazed him with its abundance of topics and possibilities. In the Pekiti Tirsia system he found uncompromising self-defence, meditation in movement, benign health development, life appreciating philosophy, serious sport, social work, violence prevention, character development

Arun lives in Freiburg and teaches Pekiti Tirsia, Contact Improvisation (a variation of New Dance), HipHop, and as a partner of Pia André workshops in New Dance and stick fighting.

He also performed in numerous dance shows, theater performances and fire shows in Germany and abroad.
